Blog 15: Readin' and Writin' 271 Words

When I was younger my mom and grandparents used to read to me all the time. I remember having the little five page books. They were little stories about courageous heroes or something about animals. They were the books with a lot of pictures and not much writing. I used to try to read along with my parents. I learned from them reading to me and they would point out the words that were hard and teach me how to say it. Whenever I was young they would read me bedtime stories and those made me fall asleep really fast. When I was little I liked reading with my parents because I thought it was fun when I was little. It was really easy for me to figure out how to read and when I read some of the words in the book they were proud of me. I used to sit in my bed and wait for someone to bring a book for us to read. I would sit on their lap or lay in bed as they read the story. They used to read the same stories over and over again so I remember some of the stories they read. After I started reading it was really easy learning how to write. I usually never missed a word on my spelling tests. Writing I learned at school. I didn’t write much at home. I used to write my letters right, but it took me a little longer how to write cursive because I had to remember how to write out the words. All in all I learned pretty fast.

Blog 14: Shape Shifting? 256 Words

If I could shape shift into an animal I would shape shift into an American bald eagle. I would want to be an eagle because I would like to soar around and dive bomb things. Also catching fish from lakes would be cool. Being an eagle would help because I could get to places faster by flying over traffic and over obstacles. Being an eagle would also help by me being able to get away from problems and be free. I could soar over places and explore the world. I like to explore. One time I was stuck in traffic and we were going to St. Louis and we were an hour away. I was tired of waiting so I jumped out of the car and took off into a wooded area and transformed into an American bald eagle. From there I ran and jumped and soared over all of the traffic and met my destination in less than half the time. That helped me out but I still had to wait over an hour for the rest of my family to show up. I wish they had this super power too. Another time being able to transform into an eagle helped was when I had an argument with my mom. She was just annoying the crap out of me. So instead of going to my room, I ran outside and took off. I soared for a while and calmed down. Then I flew back home and we were fine. Being an eagle would be awesome!

Blog 13: Hit the Jackpot 259 Words

I just won the lottery jackpot and it was $10 million. Since I am a nice guy I decided to donate $5 million to a charity of my choice. The charity I chose to donate to was the animal abuse charity, where they work together to stop animal abuse in the United States. I decided to use the rest of the money, except for $1 million I put in a safe to save it for later. I decided to buy some land in the country. It is 200 acres and has a creek that runs through a corner of the land. It also has a huge lake that has fish. I wanted fishing locations on my land. After spending money on that I built my awesome house with a huge garage, an indoor gym, which has a dodge ball arena, a game room and a lot of other rooms. My room is two levels. It has a living room in the bottom level with a mini-kitchen. The top level is my bedroom level. It has my bed, a big flat screen TV on the wall and the bathroom is on the second level too. I also bought my dream car, which is a camaro and I customized it to be red with a black strip on the top. The interior is red and black and has a rockin’ stereo system. I bought a huge pool with a tall slide and a diving board and a hot tub; all with a jungle theme. I wish I would win the lottery.

Blog 12: What event has made you happy? 251 Words

One time I went to Six Flags. I went with my cousins, aunt and uncle. We left early in the morning and drove all the way to St. Louis. When we got near Six Flags I could see the roller coasters and water slides. It looked really fun. Once we arrived at Six Flags we found out we didn’t have enough coupons but this lady came up and gave us one. We still didn’t have enough money, but the same lady came back and gave us another coupon because she had extras. She was a very generous lady. Once we were in the park I could hear the roller coaster roaring as they flew by on their tracks. I was scared of roller coasters and never rode one before. My cousin really loved roller coasters, so she was riding them. There was this one roller coaster that was a Tony Hawk Skateboarding Roller Coaster. I thought it looked fun and decided I wanted to ride it. So I did and it was the most fun I ever had. After that I decided to ride others. I rode the Batman and it was really fast ride. I wanted a more fun one. Then we found the Evel Knievel one. Evel Knievel was the best roller coaster there in my opinion. It was fast but really long so I enjoyed it. After that we ate Papa John's and relaxed. That day made me very happy because I learned how fun roller coasters are.

Blog 11: Topic #73 From the Creative Writing Prompts Website 276 Words

Buddy woke up suddenly one night in Florida. He awoke from loud banging noises coming from outside. He leaned over and peered into his clock. It read: 12:09am. His mom rushed it his room and said,”Buddy wake up! There is a hurricane coming! We have to board up the windows!” As Buddy stood up the power went out. Luckily, he had a flashlight on his bed side table. He picked up the flash light got dressed and followed his mom to the garage. There was a stack of plywood lying in the corner. Buddy and his mom picked up some boards and went and boarded up the windows. Buddy looked outside through the peephole in their front door. “Mom I left the lawn mower outside!”Buddy yelled. “Buddy! We have to get it!” his mom responded. Buddy ran out to their garage and pushed the button to open the garage door. It raised and he ran outside. The wind blew him back and the rain stung his face. The trees looked like they were about to snap and trash flew through the air like missiles. Suddenly the tree in their front yard snapped. The tree was falling directly in Buddy’s path. At the last second Buddy dove out of the way of the falling tree, but the lawn mower didn’t make it. It was smashed to a million pieces. “Get back here, Buddy! It’s too dangerous!” Buddy’s mom yelled form the garage. Buddy booked it back to the house and him and his mom got in a room with no windows and waited out the storm. “Next time don’t leave the lawn mower outside,” Buddy’s mom joked.

Blog 10: Memory Erasing Drugs 252 Words

John Hopkins University School of Medicine is making a memory erasing pill. That is kind of weird, I think. When I read this I thought to myself, how? It’s kind of weird how people can make anything they want to. I think this pill should not be one on the shelf. It should be an over the counter prescription, if they decide to sell it to the public. This pill could erase other memories too, you would think. How did they get it to target just bad memories? This pill could be stolen and someone could try to take advantage of this pill and erase people’s memories with it. So these pills are kind of unneeded for life. Hypnosis and therapy would probably be more help than this memory erasing pill. The pill should be used for only very severe cases of traumatized people. The pros would be that the person taking it wouldn’t have to remember things that made them go crazy or remember some very horrific scenes. You would think it would erase other bad memories that taught you a lesson or allowed you to tell a story to inform other people. I don’t think this drug is necessary for people, because I think it would cause more harm than good. Some other questions I have been thinking of are: How did they test it or how did they find the chemical to do this? There are a lot of medical mysteries out there. Some things just make you wonder.

Blog 9: A Spring Break to Remember 287 Words

Today is the first day back from spring break. Everyone is tired and doesn’t want to be at school. I wish spring break could be two weeks so we have more time to relax. My spring break was pretty good. I enjoyed not having to get up early and go to school. I didn’t do much during spring break though. I was hoping I could be outside but when spring break came so did the cold weather; it even snowed one day. So I was cooped up in the house for most of the ten days of spring break. On Wednesday my grandma took me to get more clothes for summer since I outgrew my clothes from last year. I got some shorts and a shirt. For most of the days I was playing black ops on my ps3 but when I wasn’t playing ps3 I was watching movies, Nightmare on Elm Street and Taken, or playing on the computer. Since I didn’t have to get up early I stayed up later than usually playing ps3 with friends until I got too tired and had to go to sleep. On the last day of spring break I went to a shed in town and helped my grandma and grandpa move siding for our house and other stuff out to make room for seeds for the upcoming planting season in the shed. After that we took the stuff home and cleaned out our old garage and made room for the new stuff. Later that night I went to help my grandpa on the farm. We fed cows and sheep and checked on the newborn calves. I thought my spring break was pretty boring but it could’ve been worse.

Blog 8: Dogs or Cats? 250 Words

I have to choose between dogs or cats. Well, its hard for me to choose beccause I like all animals. I like both dogs and cats. They both have many advantages. Right now I have two cats, Smokey and Jojo, and they are fun but I would like to have a dog. I like dogs because they are an outside pet and they like to play fetch and you can go for walks with them so you have more physical activity in the warm months, instead of being inside sitting around. I like the companionship and how dogs always want to be by your side. I have been wanting a dog that is a white husky with blue eyes. I kind of want a fench bulldog too. I like cats though because they like to cuddle up on you and love to be loved. I like it when cats purr because it means they are satisfied. Also cats are inside animals so you can when its raining or in the colder months, you don't have to go outside. My cats are very lovey dovey. THey always want to be around you; especially when you have food. So its 50, 50 for me. They both have good characteristics and advantages and its hard for me to choose over a dog or a cat. If I could, I would have both but two cats is enough for the rest of my family. So for now I can only have my two cats.

Blog 7: Action Adventure 269 Words

“When the train slows down, jump!” yelled Marco. Selena held on to a rail on the top of the train. Gun shots rang against the metal sides of the train. Ping, ping! The train was pulling into the station. Once it slowed down, Marco and Selena jumped. They landed in a pile of rocks but quickly got back up and started to run. They ran into an abandoned building. They sat near a wall trying to wait for their enemies to go away. Then Selena looked over and saw c4 on a wall. She quickly told Marco. “This place is rigged to blow!” yelled Selena. As she spoke there was a beep, beep and then an explosion. They raced outside as the building collapsed behind them but Dr. Evil and Mrs. Evil spotted them and started shooting. They need cover fast. Selena and Marco raced into a gas station as shots rang out behind them. They got in the storage space in the back and looked for weapons. “There’s a pole back here.” Selena said. “I got an ice beater” Marco replied. “We go outside on three.” Marco whispered. “1, 2…” Boom! The door slammed open and Dr. Evil and Mrs. Evil stood there. They hadn’t seen Selena or Marco yet so they took the chance and Selena smacked Mrs. Evil in the face with the pole and knocked her out. As she did that, Marco cracked the ice beater into Dr. Evil’s knees and he collapsed in pain. “I’ll get you!” Dr. Evil threatened. Marco and Selena got away without any harm from Dr. Evil or Mrs. Evil.

Blog 6: McDonald's...How Are You Lovin' It? 255 Words

I am writing about me and McDonalds. I live in McLean where a McDonalds is located.  I have been to McDonalds since I was really little. When I was younger I used to always get happy meals or chicken nuggets with barbecue sauce, but now I usually get a double cheeseburger meal with a root beer. I sometimes get a crispy chicken ranch snack wrap, an ice cream cone, or a McFlurry also. I personally don’t like eating there now because it is very unhealthy to eat their food and my whole family calls it grease bucket because all of their food is loaded with grease the way they cook it. I think they put grease in their food just for people to eat more of it because humans naturally love fat in foods. I try not to eat there but I do every now and then. I will admit though, that there food tastes really good but it’s not as healthy as they portray it on commercials about their food and how people say, “I’m loving it.” The only thing from McDonalds that I think is healthy is their berry smoothies because it isn’t cooked. I used to think that the food was fine but then I saw the movie, “Supersize Me.” In the movie this guy ate only super sized McDonald’s food. That guy got fat and got sick all the time from the food he ate at McDonalds. It just shows how if you eat it too much you will get fat.

Blog 5: Five Senses, Minus One 253 Words

I have all of my five senses. I was born with all five of my senses like most other people. If I ever had to choose which sense I didn't want anymore, it would probably be my sense of smell. I wouldn't want to lose sight, taste, hearing, or feeling. If I lost sight or the sense of hearing I wouldn't be able to see and hear TV or listen to music and I don't think I could live without those two things. I would miss feeling different textures too. If I lost the sense of feel I wouldn't be able to feel my phone if it vibrated in my pocket.Taste would be bad to lose too because you wouldn't have any favorite food or know what food actually taste like. It would be like eating air or something tasteless. Without smelling I wouldn't have to smell any bad smelling things anymore but I would miss out on other smells. Like on Christmas I would miss the smell of ham cooking in the crock pot filling the house with the smell of ham. I would also miss out on whatever I was having for dinner or lunch because I couldn't smell it but I could still taste it. Food would still be the same just the flavor wouldn't be as strong if I lost my sense of smell. Losing a sense would be bad which ever sense you decided to lose, but some people don't get a choice on the senses they lose.

Blog 4: Design A Castaway Friend 250 Words

If I somehow got stranded on an island I would be really lonely. I would search for a while and try to figure out how to get off the island. If I couldn't I would need a companion. To find a companion I would probably look for something that looked somewhat like a human head so I could talk to it. I would probably find a coconut. After that I would go find a sharp rock so I could carve eyes and a mouth on it. Then when I got lonely I could talk to it. Also I could drink the milk out of it. I would call him Coco becasue he is a coconut. I would take him everywhere with me when I explored the island or went hunting. I would go hunting and then if I didn't catch anything then I would talk to Coco for encouragement. Having a companion would most likely keep me sane longer than if there was nothing or no one to talk to. It would keep you sane longer because talking to something and expressing what you feel would relieve stress and tension so you wouldn't go crazy. If Coco died, like getting smashed or drieing up I could go get another one and draw a face on it with a sharp rock too. If there were no more coconnuts I would search the beach and try to be rescued or find something washed up on the beach to make my new friend.

Blog 3: Ten Years From Now 269 Words

It is ten years after I wrote this. I am living in the city of St. Louis after I finished college. I am surprised I am living here because I don’t really like cities. But it is working out. I just got out of school for architecture and opened my own business. I have built ten houses now and the owners love their new homes.  I have an apartment and am saving up for my own house. I am living with my two dogs, a French bulldog and a white Siberian husky with blue eyes. In the news they just discovered big foot. There were sightings of big foot in Funk’s Grove about 15 years ago and they finally found him. They now have him captured and are doing tests on him.  They also found a new planet. It is called kigor. They found living life forms on it and they are called kigorians. They are ten feet tall and their skin is the color green. They look almost exactly human but taller and a different color. We are still learning about the kigorians. Jason Statham is president now. In sports, dodge ball just became a national sport and is in most high schools now. Dodge ball is also on TV. The technology now is very advanced. They made these new see-through touch screen phones and iPods.  They also made new technology to improve architecture. There is a program where you can build a house from the ground up in a virtual world with all the elements you need to build a house. The future seems pretty sweet, huh?

Blog 2: The Joy of Cold Weather 280 Words

I personally like cold weather. Cold weather means it is winter time. Usually I can’t wait for summer at the end of winter because I’m tired of being cold, but at the end of summer I am ready for winter because I’m tired of being hot. I get excited the first time it snow because I love snow. Snow is fun because it gets you out of school sometimes and you can have snowball fights and go sledding or snowmobiling. I remember when it snowed and the power would go out for days and we had to use a kerosene heater. I actually liked not having power because I didn’t have to stay in and watch TV, I could go outside and roll around in the snow. When it starts getting cold my family starts cooking more soup than usually. We usually have baked potato soup or chili. We usually have soup because sometimes we are sick or we need warmed up and soup helps that. I remember when I was little and I used we used to have huge snowball fights throughout town. I also like ice. I like sliding around and being weightless. I like to run real fast then jump on the ice and slide ten yards. Falling down is the bad part of ice though. I bruised my hip up once because I fell so hard on ice. I have also twisted up my wrist and jammed up most of my fingers falling on ice but its fine because I was having fun. I also like winter because of Christmas. I like having a whole bunch of Christmas parties with the family. Present aren’t bad either.

Blog 1: New Semester 252 Words

Well I made it to the second semester of freshman year. I thought High School was going to be hard but it isn’t. I like how there are two semesters. Last semester was good but half of my classes were on one side of the school and my two other classes were on the opposite side of the school. This time all of my classes are on the same side of the school so I don’t have to walk as much. I didn’t really like production technology that much because he made the final about stuff that we didn’t even know. I like my new classes too. I have physical science, algebra 2, English 1, and PE/health, in that order. I don’t like how I have physical science is my first block class though, because I like science but I can’t really enjoy it as much because I’m usually tired in the morning. I have good classes but I don’t have as many classes with my friends this semester. I hope I get A’s in all of my classes. 2011 should be a good year. I am hoping to get my permit in July, so then I can get my license on my birthday next year. This spring break we are supposed to be going on vacation too. We are going to Florida or Chicago. So at least I have something to look forward to later in the year.  This winter is going by fast so spring break should be here soon.
